Speed, Distance, Time Calculator

Calculate any of the three variables given the other two.

The Speed, Distance, and Time Relationship

Speed is a scalar quantity that refers to "how fast an object is moving." It is the rate at which an object covers distance. The three variables—speed, distance, and time—are intrinsically linked. Knowing any two allows you to calculate the third.

The Core Formulas

The relationship is described by three simple formulas:

How to Use the Calculator

This calculator simplifies these calculations for you:

  1. First, select what you want to calculate: Speed, Distance, or Time.
  2. The calculator will disable the input field for your chosen variable.
  3. Enter the values for the other two variables.
  4. The result is calculated instantly and displayed.

For example, to find out how long a 300-mile trip will take at an average speed of 60 mph, you would select "Time", enter 300 for distance (in miles), and 60 for speed (in mph). The calculator would show the result as 5 hours.

Remember to keep your units consistent! Our calculator handles unit conversions automatically, but when doing these calculations by hand, ensure all your inputs are in compatible units (e.g., don't mix miles with meters).
