Planning Your Gaming Journey
For gamers with a backlog of titles, figuring out how long it will take to complete a game is key to managing your time. Whether you're trying to finish a massive RPG before the next big release or just curious about your progress, a few simple data points can give you a surprisingly accurate estimate.
The Calculation
This calculator uses a straightforward approach to estimate your remaining playtime and potential completion date.
- Calculate Hours Remaining: First, we determine the total hours you still need to play. This is done by finding the percentage of the game you haven't completed yet and multiplying it by the game's total estimated length.
Hours Remaining = Total Playtime * (1 - (Percent Complete / 100))
- Estimate Completion Date: With the hours remaining, we can project a completion date. We divide the remaining hours by the number of hours you typically play per week to find out how many weeks it will take. This is then used to calculate a future date.
Weeks to Complete = Hours Remaining / Hours Per Week
